Excellent start of the eCAPITAL Fund IV

After launching eCAPITAL’s latest fund, eCAPITAL IV, the fund’s portfolio already comprises 10 investments today. Amongst others the portfolio includes Creapaper, the fund’s latest addition and nationwide winner of the “KfW Founder Prize 2017” as well as sonnen, Jedox and videantis, all three winners of this year’s Deloitte Fast 50 Award. This lays a solid foundation for eCAPITAL’s continued success story, building on past achievements such as Novaled’s Trade Sale to Samsung Group.

For this year’s December issue of the VentureCapital Magazin, Dr. Paul-Josef Patt, Managing Partner of eCAPITAL AG and eCAPITAL Partner Bernd Arkenau had a conversation with Mathias Renz of the VC Magazin. Apart from specific topics on individual portfolio companies such as sonnen, the "Facebook for energy suppliers", and a brief exchange on the exit maturity of eCAPITAL’s portfolio companies, Renz particularly focused on our new fund eCAPITAL IV, its technology focus and fundraising status.

By launching eCAPITAL IV in 2016, eCAPITAL has set up its biggest fund so far, targeting a total fund volume of € 100 million. The investment focus of the fund covers Cleantech, Industry 4.0, Software / IT and New Materials. To date, € 90 million have been raised. In addition to well-known family offices, numerous institutional investors have invested. Just recently Creapaper, located in Hennef, received growth financing of € 3 million making it the fund’s tenth investment. Further investments are currently in preparation. Current investments of the fund include four growth-stage companies that already generate revenues in the double-digit million range. Then there are three younger, highly innovative companies in the field of cyber security and three providers of disruptive core technologies for future-oriented applications. The fund will be closed by 31 December 2017.
