New eCAPITAL Fonds IV and Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen invest in Rhebo

Leipzig, 29.06.2016: Rhebo AG receives venture financing from eCAPITAL Technologies Fonds IV and the Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen, with eCAPITAL acting as lead investor.

Founded by Klaus Mochalski (CEO), Martin Menschner (CTO) and Frank Stummer (Business development) and located in Leipzig, Rhebo was amongst the first ones to develop and successfully market a solution for a fully automated real-time surveillance of data traffic in industrial control networks. Via so-called “Deep Packet Inspection“ (DPI) Rhebo’s software monitors and analyses the content of data packages in the communication between machines, and by doing so, automatically learns the patterns of the ordinary data traffic. On every deviation of the normal state through for example an external attack or the threat of a machine downturn, the user receives a real-time notification about the anomaly and can initiate respective actions. The key value proposition offered by Rhebo is that thanks to its analytical software, machine breakdowns can be minimized or even avoided entirely. As costs of this nature are substantial, operators can achieve significant savings in terms of production and maintenance costs.

“Reliability and security are central risks in our increasingly connected industry. Thanks to its innovative technological background, Rhebo pioneers in helping clients with regards to IoT to detect system failures of every nature as well as external threats in real-time“, states Willi Mannheims, partner of the eCAPITAL AG.

Rhebo already marks the fourth investment by the eCAPITAL IV Technologies Fonds, which was started in 2016. The eCAPITAL IV Fonds aims to build a portfolio of approx. 15 participations in innovative, high-growth companies in the fields of Software & IT, Cleantech, Automation / Industry 4.0, and New Materials, with a targeted fund size of € 100 million.

“The management’s experience has already contributed to two successfully established companies in the past and, by building upon this, eCAPITAL was able to leverage their know-how within the foundation of a third company offering a completely new software solution for industry 4.0 applications, which has particularly found our approval“, said the responsible Investment Director of TGFS Andreas Müller.

Founder and CEO of Rhebo Klaus Mochalski adds: “In 2015, Rhebo successfully transited from product development to commercial launch. These installations helped us to convince investors of the technological benefits and the scalability of our business model. We chose eCAPITAL and TGFS due to their active and competent approach and guidance, particularly in the field of data security. First test runs at German automotive manufacturers demonstrate the smooth functioning of the concept of anomaly detection through Rhebo’s Industrial Protector. Currently, detailed negotiations are also being held with organisations from the energy sector. Particularly after the introduction of the IT security law, the need for an intelligent security solution has risen significantly.“
