With 1500 sonnenBatteries delivered worldwide, sonnen, an eCAPITAL portfolio company, achieved a new sales record in June. The share of this was particularly strong in the German-speaking countries, where around 75 per cent of the systems were delivered. Worldwide sales for sonnen in June thus rose to almost 10 million Euro in one month.

At the same time, sonnen was also able to significantly increase sales in the first half of 2018. In comparison to the same period of the previous year, revenues rose by 50 percent.

The strong growth is based on several factors. Alongside the generally positive trend in the storage market, sonnen was also able to benefit from its innovative power supply services and to further expand the specialist partner network in Germany.

“The new record in terms of turnover and sales of sonnenBatteries in the German-speaking countries, is the reward for our intensive work over the last two years", says Philipp Schröder, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing at sonnen. “In a short period of time, sonnen has delivered numerous innovations for the storage and energy market. The customers now know that innovations such as sonnenFlat are making the purchase of a home storage system even more economical."

Last month, a study by the EuPD Research market research institute compared 15 electricity contracts as a supplement to a power storage system. The sonnenCommunity with sonnenFlat was deemed to the best power supply product on the market by far. The most important comparison criteria of the study included the efficiency, transparency, service and benefits of the energy system.

Generally speaking, the use of solar power continues to be on the rise. According to the German Solar Industry Federation (BSW), at approximately 23.6 terawatt hours, the production of solar power in the first half of 2018 was nearly eight percent above that in the first half of 2017. The production costs of solar power are now only 5-10 cents per kilowatt hour. Solar power is thus one of the cheapest forms of electricity production in Germany.
